The University of Ottawa and Carleton University faced the potential cancellation of the annual Panda Game due to the rise of pre- and post-game street parties in the surrounding neighbourhood. With incidents like cars being flipped, students climbing street poles, and public urinations, the city of Ottawa intervened and threatened the future of the Panda Game. In response, our staff developed innovative campus event solutions, transforming the chaotic parties into 'Pandafest'—a pre-game tailgate and post-game music festival that has now become a highlight of Canadian campuses events and the largest campus event of the year. This new initiative sets the standard for Homecoming events that students aspire to attend, while also helping to rebuild trust and reputation within the local community through effective event planning.
